Thursday readings: Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the first (or at least one of the first) chick-lit books out there. It certainly was the first book of this genre I've read and I identify so much with Bridget Jones, that it makes me think all women have their inner Bridget Jones.
I like to make lists with objectives (and I never get to them), I've been dieting almost my entire adult life until I finally learned to accept myself. I dreamed of a Perfect Man who would come and make my life complete and after some unfortunate attempts, I found the Almost Perfect Man.
Bridget Jones is a 29 year old woman, with a job she's bored of, a pushy mother, crazy friends and the desire to find her soul mate. Of course, it doesn't help she's falling for her boss, a notorious womanizer and she tries to be sexy and smart for him.
If you want a good laugh, this book won't disappoint you, neither the follow-up Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. I wish there were more books in the series, but it's been more than 10 years by now, and I don't think Helen Fielding could pick it up where she left off.
