Movie review: Chalet Girl

I keep going with my project of watching as many movies as possible in my vacation and I chose this one because I love Austria, it's my favourite country and I hope someday I'll be able to move there.
Chalet Girl is about a former skateboard champion, Kim Matthews, who's currently working as a waitress. She gets a much better job joining the staff at some rich family's chalet in the Alps.At first, she's very uncomfortable among all those rich spoiled brats, and Caroline (Brooke Shields), her boss is the worst. Her son, Jonny (Ed Westwick) is a charming pretty boy, but he has a girlfriend, Chloe (Sophia Bush) who's everything Kim is not.  While working at the chalet for the winter season, Kim becomes interested in snowboarding, because it's similar to skateboarding, right? and she starts to prepare for a competition.
The movie is very light, there's much talk about winter sports( I hate all kinds of sports), but the Alps do look great and it got my dreaming of a nice winter vacation dare. Hot chocolate, snow, a fireplace....Enough, Kitty, get it together!
For all Austria fans, Ed Westwick fans, or just for those who like rom-coms, this movie is a nice choice.

Movie review: Two Moon Junction

Hi, kitties!
Because I'm on vacation and most of the time home alone, I watch a new movie almost daily and I want to see two movie categories: travel movies and...sexy movies. I'm not into porn or anything, but I appreciate a steamy movie love scene.
The first movie on my list was Two Moon Junction. I wasn't prepared to like it that much. The dialogue is ridiculous sometimes and the plot isn't so great either, but Sherilyn Fenn and Richard Tyson (I didn't know about the guy until now) had great onscreen chemistry and I wanted them to finally get together.
April is a typical Southern belle and she is preparing for the wedding to a man approved by her strict family. Her father is a Senator and her grandmother is quite wealthy and they want only the best for her. But one day, at a carnival, April sees Perry, a hunky worker she's instantly attracted to and so a hot love affair begins.
That's about 90% of the movie and I won't give away the wedding, but let me just say, the love scenes were...wow. And Richard Tyson was the ideal 90's man (although the movie is from 1988): long hair, full lips and killer abs. And the way he rocks jeans is just...let's just say a want a poster from this movie. Obviously, this movie is not PG, so don't let kids watch this.
Until next time, byeeeee!

Movie review: My Life in Ruins

Hi, kitties!
Long time no see. I've been very busy at my job and we had a heat wave and there were just so many things that kept me from blogging. So, currently I'm looking for a new job (it's really hard to find something here) and I'm on vacation for now, so I plan on catching up with my movie list and doing some light reading.
The first movie I watched on my vacation is this cute romantic comedy. I love traveling movies and when there's a promise of beautiful scenery, I don't even care that much for the plot.
My Life in Ruins is about Georgia (Nia Vardalos), a former teacher who's currently working as a travel guide. She's not that good at this because she wants to educate people a little bit too much, so they find her to be boring. Her boss is planning on firing her, so she assigns her on purpose a tough crowd and a weird bus driver named Poupi. So, Georgia begins her tour with the tourists for 6 days in beautiful Greek sightings. Like I said, the plot is not that great and there were few things that were funny, but I liked to see many wonderful places from Greece.
You know, I won't be travelling this summer (well , summer is almost over anyways), so at least I can dream.
Kisses to you and I'll be back soon!Byeeee

GG Movies: The Wedding Planner

Call me a sucker but I love Jennifer Lopez movies because I love romantic comedies and I don't care how cheesy the script is. I think JLo is actually funny and I like her Latino accent.
In this week's movie she plays Mary, a wedding planner who's organising a big wedding. But without her wanting this, she falls in love with the groom-to-be, played by hottie Matthew McConaughey. They look so cute together and although it's not something I approve of, meaning flirting with a committed man, I can't stop myself rooting for them.
I guess the movie is pretty predictable, but it's still a nice afternoon movie, so do enjoy!

GG's Saturday Movie: Clueless

I know, I know, it's already Sunday, but not being a professional blogger has its downsides. I don't feel like writing on command, so I think my weekly posts about music, movies and tv shows will pop up irregularly from now on.
This week's movie is a classic for every girly girl. It's the first movie about girls, fashion, and first world problems like when to return a boy's call that I can think of. Sure, the fashion is outdated almost 20 years later, but it's still fun to watch and I liked Alicia Silverstone very much in the role of the rich and spoiled Cher Horowitz.
Cher is a popular girl at her high school and she has friends, money and cool clothes but something is missing: the perfect boyfriend. Searching for a boyfriend is not her only goal, she also tries to turn the new geeky student Tai into a copy of herself because she thinks it would be a nice act of charity.
Clueless is funny, lighthearted comedy, so it's perfect for a girls night. I watched it yesterday with my mom because I accidentally caught it on tv and we ate ice cream and gossiped about the clothes, so it was actually quite a fun afternoon.

GG's Saturday Movie: The Notebook

Hi, kitties!
This Saturday I'm alone again with my cat and I won't be going outside because it's crazy hot, so just maybe in the evening. So, for this Saturday I chose another classic for every girl: The Notebook.I must honestly say I don't even like Nicholas Sparks novels. I've read quite a few because everybody was like "oh, they are so romantic", but I'm sorry the man isn't romantic at all if you ask me, and I didn't like the movies either because I think they're boring. The only one I do like is this one and it's because of the director and the chemistry between Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. The movie is much better than the book actually.
It's a love story set in the '40s. Allie is this rich girl who's on vacation and she falls in love with Noah, a poor boy who loves poetry and who adores her. But her parents are set to separate them, so when Allie leaves for college, Noah writes her a letter each day for a year, but they never get to her. Time passes by, World War II is starting and Noah too goes on the front. Allie works as a charity nurse and she meets another man who's not only handsome, but also rich and they get engaged.
After the war ends, Noah returns home and buys a colonial house so he can restore it, and that's when Allie sees his picture in a local newspaper, so she decides to see Noah one more time before she gets married, you know, for closure and everything. Only their feelings are stronger than distance and time passed by, so now Allie must chose who she wants to stay with.
There are some really sweet love scenes, and of course the gorgeous Ryan Gosling, so I think this movie will cheer me up big time!
Enjoy!

GG's Saturday Movie: Enchanted

Who doesn't want to be a princess? Well, I know I am one, so too bad for you, right? Just kidding.
I think this movie was supposed to be for kids too, but I think I'll love fairytales even when I'm 90 or something.
That's why I liked Enchanted. It's about this princess named Giselle who's sent from the fairyworld to New York in our days by an evil queen. She meets a rather weird vision of Prince Charming in the form of a lawyer (Robert). Their world collide, but Giselle and Robert are bound to find true love, just like in fairytales.
There isn't really that much to say about the movie, I just thought it was kind of cute, and Robert, the lawyer, is played by Patrick Dempsey, aka McDreamy, so you you have something nice too look at, plus Susan Sarandon as the delightful evil queen.

GG's Saturday Movie: The Bounty Hunter

If you're new to this blog, then let me make something clear: here I have book and movie recommendations for girls, meaning chick flicks and chick lit, so if you have a problem with that, you know your way out.
This Saturday I'm home alone, I did some chores, a lovely chicken soup is on the stove and I'm preparing to watch another romantic comedy with a bowl of popcorn in my lap and my cat sleeping next to me on the couch.
Jennifer Aniston is one of my favourite actresses in the world and I like almost every movie she's in. If you add to that an eye candy like Gerald Butler, then there's nothing that could go wrong. This movie is about a bounty hunter who's supposed to track down his ex-wife. As much as he tries to be all professional about it, there is some unfinished business between them,so many things are bound to go wrong.
Enjoy!
